What is diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace?

Diversity, equity and inclusion are three closely linked values held by organisations who seek to support a broad range of people to succeed within their workforce and ensure all employees feel valued, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders and sexual orientations.

But what do each of these values mean?
  • Diversity refers to the different groups of people who are represented across the workforce and at each level of responsibility.
  • Equity refers to the provision of fair access to opportunity to support the advancement of different people. Where equality suggests that all people should be treated the same, equity takes into consideration a person’s unique circumstances, adjusting treatment accordingly so that the end result is equal.
  • Inclusion  speaks to the way organisations embrace their people and enable them to make meaningful contributions by adapting physical environments, work processes or other meeting other requirements.

How can Greenbeam underpin your DE&I strategy?

Greenbeam helps organisations embed diversity, equity and inclusion into workforce strategy by replacing subjective judgement with clear, evidence-based capability insight across the talent lifecycle.

Using structured capability mapping alongside psychometric and aptitude assessments, Greenbeam identifies current capability, natural strengths and learning potential. This enables fairer matching to roles, projects and career pathways based on what people can do and how they can grow, not their background.

Greenbeam then supports meaningful development through personalised pathways that build capability for today’s role and what comes next. This makes capability easier to recognise, develop and deploy, supporting more equitable access to opportunity and a more inclusive workplace culture.
