The iAwards, Australia's longest-running and most prestigious technology awards program, celebrate organisations delivering outstanding innovation and real-world impact through technology.

Greenbeam was recognised for challenging the traditional approach to diversity and inclusion. Rather than treating diversity as a standalone initiative, Greenbeam has redesigned how workforce capability is measured, assessed and governed, creating a more objective, evidence-based approach to hiring, development and career progression.

"Our belief has always been that diversity is often a systems problem," said Greenbeam CEO Cia Kouparitsas.
"When organisations rely on job titles, tenure, qualifications or manager perception, they inevitably overlook capable people with non-traditional career paths. By creating stronger, more transparent ways to understand capability, we can build fairer systems that recognise potential wherever it exists."

Unlike conventional skills platforms, Greenbeam uses structured capability frameworks, evidence-based assessment, AI-assisted analysis and accountable decision-making to help organisations make more informed workforce decisions. The same platform that supports customers is also used internally, ensuring the company's own practices reflect the principles it promotes.

That approach has helped Greenbeam build a workforce rich in diverse experience, including a senior leadership team comprising 50% women and a significant number of employees with non-linear career journeys, including military veterans who have successfully transitioned into technology and leadership roles.

One example is Greenbeam's Vice President of Product, Jess Haines Hann, who joined the company as a graphic designer before progressing through brand management and user experience into product leadership.

"Jess's journey perfectly demonstrates why we believe capability matters more than career history," Kouparitsas said. "Traditional systems might have seen a designer. We saw someone with exceptional capability, curiosity and leadership potential."

The company believes the future of diversity lies in improving the quality of workforce decisions, rather than relying solely on standalone diversity programs.

"Ultimately, this award recognises more than our technology," said Kouparitsas. "It recognises the idea that when organisations make workforce decisions using stronger, more transparent and more accountable capability data, better diversity outcomes naturally follow."

Greenbeam will now represent Queensland at the Australian iAwards National Finals.
